Wedding FAQs

How do we begin planning our wedding flowers with Dandelion Florist?

To get started, simply fill out our wedding enquiry form or email including your wedding date, ceremony venue, guest count, budget range, etc. From there, we’ll
schedule a personalised consultation face-to-face or over the phone. It’s your time to share your vision — we’ll listen carefully, explore your style and needs, and outline the next steps so everything feels clear and seamless moving
forward.

Do you have a minimum spend for wedding flowers?

No minimum spend is required. We offer two flexible options so you can choose what suits your wedding scale and budget:
Signature Bridal Collection – A curated range of elegant, pre-designed floral
pieces. Ideal for elopements, micro-weddings, short timelines or more intimate celebrations.
Full-Service Wedding Flowers – A completely tailored floral experience
including design, delivery, set-up, on-site styling and floral transfers between ceremony and reception. Perfect for couples seeking cohesive, luxurious styling.
We’ll work with your budget to create a floral plan that aligns with your priorities and vision.

What do wedding flowers typically cost? (Guide only)

Our floral pricing varies based on design complexity, scale and seasonality. Here’s
a general guide:
Bridal bouquets: $180–$550
Bridesmaid bouquets: $140–$250
Buttonholes: from $35
Corsages: $45–$95
Reception centrepieces: $120–$750
We’ll guide you on where florals have the most visual impact and suggest cost-effective swaps if needed — always with style in mind.

When should we book our wedding florist?

We recommend booking 6 to 12 months in advance, especially for popular wedding
dates and peak seasons (spring and summer in Melbourne). If your timeline is shorter or longer, we’re happy to advise what’s possible right away.

Do you deliver, install, and move flowers between venues?

Yes — we provide full-service floral logistics. Our team will:

  • Deliver and set up florals at your ceremony
  • Relocate feature pieces to your reception (e.g., aisle flowers to guest tables)
  • Collect hire items
  • Coordinate any next-day gifting or collection if requested

Your flowers are in expert hands from start to finish.

Do you travel for weddings outside of Melbourne?

Absolutely. While we’re based in Melbourne, we also travel across Victoria. Travel and accommodation fees may apply based on location.

Which flowers are in season in Melbourne?

We love working with seasonal flowers for their beauty, freshness, and
sustainability. Here’s a quick guide subject to availability:

  • Peonies – Late spring
  • David Austin roses – Late spring to early summer (limited availability)
  • Lisianthus – Spring to autumn
  • Cymbidium orchids – Winter to spring
  • Vanda orchids – Available most of the year (in limited quantities)

We’ll present the best in-season options for your wedding date — or offer close
floral alternatives to match your aesthetic.

Can you source specific or out-of-season flowers?

Often, yes — especially with advance notice. Some rare or out-of-season blooms may involve higher costs or longer lead times. We’ll always balance style with freshness and offer thoughtful alternatives that align with your look and values.

Can you incorporate cultural traditions or symbolic flowers?

Of course. We welcome the inclusion of cultural or spiritual floral elements — from specific blooms and colour palettes to traditional arrangements, arches or ceremonial structures. Just let us know what’s meaningful to you.

Do you offer low-allergen or scent-sensitive flower options?

Yes. We can design with low-pollen, hypoallergenic or lightly-scented blooms, and strategically place arrangements to accommodate guests with sensitivities. Comfort and elegance can absolutely go hand in hand.

What if it rains or the weather is extreme on our wedding day?

With many years’ experience in weddings, we’ve seen it all. We always plan with
weather in mind — including shading, hydration, safe set-up and back-up strategies in case of heat, wind or rain. Our team will also coordinate closely with your planner or venue to adjust as needed.

What happens to the flowers after the wedding?

That’s up to you! We can:

  • Set up a take-home flower station for guests
  • Package arrangements for family and friends
  • Coordinate flower donation where practical
  • Handle all hire item returns and floral pack-down

Do you offer hire items?

Yes. We offer a carefully curated collection of ceremony structures, vases, plinths, candles, and styling elements — available exclusively to our floral clients. We manage all delivery, set-up and pack-down for a stress-free experience.

Can we make changes after we’ve booked?

Absolutely — small adjustments are normal. We finalise all floral designs and logistics 14 days prior to your wedding, when your final balance is due. Any late changes are subject to availability but we’ll do our best to accommodate.
